LACATONI AND MINHO UNIVERSITY UNITED FOR INNOVATION

As a result of the successes achieved over time, by working together on some projects, Lacatoni and Fibrenamics International Platform of the University of Minho (UMinho) entered into a long-term partnership, which combines the two entities on a permanent basis with a view to application the knowledge produced in a national and international renowed university and Lacatoni products.

This partnership began in 2008 with the Department of Textile Engineering through professor Raul Fangueiro team, coordinator of Fibrenamics. At the time, UMinho team developed a multifunctional sweater without high yield seams, allowing to combine aesthetic characteristics techniques, a great reason for functionality and comfort. This product was used by several clubs of the 1st Portuguese Football League, proving responsiveness to market needs this partnership powers. “In the last decade the issues related to the functionality and design of sports materials have been interconnected and being developed by the major sports brands. Lacatoni is not unrelated to the this concern, “explains Antonio Soares and Alberto Pereira. The partners of Lacatoni say “It’s a great honor to work with the University of Minho”, stating that the strategy goes “far beyond business,” confirming the objective of “creating value and history that values both institutions, the region and the country in which we operate. ”

From the University of Minho, Raul Fangueiro leads the Fibrenamics Platform, a team of researchers with a proven track record in the market, and is confident in the success of this long-term partnership. “The development of innovative products is one of the fundamental tasks of Fibrenamics platform,” says Professor Fangueiro, ensuring that the Fibrenamics Platform expect to”contribute to the development of the brand made in Portugal on the market, demonstrating the excellence of the knowledge produced, and applicability the same products that add value to the consumer.”
